What’s Going On With Google PageRank?

A lot of strange goings on with Google PageRank since yesterday.  Just last week the PR of this blog was updated from a N/A to a PR4.  Now its back to an N/A.

I checked my other sites and they all appear to be back to what they were before last week’s update.  My best guess is Google had to roll back the update for some reason and its only temporary.  So settle down and don’t worry about it.

I don’t care much about PR anyway.  Its nice to see it go up but it doesn’t really correlate to how much revenue a site produces…unless you sell links which I don’t do anyway.

We;ll see what happens over the next couple of days.  hopefully it will all get straightened out and I’ll get the PR4 back again.

What kind of impact have you seen on your sites?

Edit on 10/6 – Looks like the dust settled and I’m back to a PR4…all is well with the world again.  :)

I saw an increase to PR3 and that was it, no unstability..

I went from PR2 to PR3 back to PR2. I agree that it really doesn’t make much difference as long as my site appears in the top 5-10 sites for my keywords.

This has been the most unstable PR update ever. I’ve watched the PR on various sites go up and down daily for the past week. Get your act together Google . . . or at least err on the side of caution.

The result may vary depending on which data centers it is collecting the PR stats but when the big G is done with the update, everything will normalize to your assigned PR.

yeah we should expect fluctuations because its the nature of the recursive calculations they must be doing. its hard on us because we see a positive PR change and then it drops again..

The PR update has some good news for me in the sense that I had a site with no PR and in the update, it got a 4PR and another site with no PR got a 2PR. Well, I have heard that google has made some changes in its search algorithms and people are anticipating some more surprises in the next update.
